Chef Kristi Thyme to Cook

Baked Steak is one of those hearty and comforting meals that everyone in my family loves. It is a meal that I get many requests to make for birthdays and specials occasions. It is rich and flavor and oh so good! It is not hard to make just needs time in the oven so that the steak gets nice and tender. I hope you give my recipe a try and I know you won't be disappointed.

Baked Steak

Ingredients
2 pounds of cubed steak
1 cup flour
1 tsp paprika
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp onion powder
1 tsp salt
cracked black pepper
4 cups beef broth
1 to 2 cups water
2 tbsp worchestershire sauce
1 package lipton onion soup mix
1 to 2 cups canola oil for frying

Instructions
1. Mix flour and seasonings together in a pie plate or shallow dish.
2. Dredge each piece of steak into the flour mixture making sure they are well coated.
3. In a large skillet heat the oil until it hot enough to fry. You can test the oil by placing the end of a wooden spoon into the oil, if it's hot enough you will see little bubbles around the spoon.
4. Fry each piece of steak turning the steak over to brown each side. Place cooked steak on a plate lined with paper towels.
5. Once all the steak is browned place steak into a 9 x 13 baking dish.
6. Pour most of the oil out reserving about 2 tbsp.
7. Sprinkle about 2 tbsp of the same flour mixture you dredged the steak into the oil.
8. Once the flour has absorbed the oil add the beef broth, worchestershire sauce, and onion soup mix stirring with a whisk until the everything is incorporated.
9. You can add 1 to 2 cups of water depending on how thick you want the gravy from the steak.
10. Bake in a 325 degree oven for 3 hours until the steak is tender.
