Backpacking Yellowstone - The Bechler Valley October 2023

Follow
Long Wilderness Walks

This trip took place on Sept 30 Oct 7 starting at the Firehole River Trailhead and ending at the South Entrance of Yellowstone National Park. During this trip, it rained for 3.5 days, continuously. We both froze our butts off for a few nights, but thankfully the last few days of our 8day trip were clear skies, or at least it wasn't raining. The last day was our first full day of sun.

The original goal was to see Dununda Falls and Union Falls, but between the weather, high rivers due to multiple days of rain, and a portion of my back going numb due to vertebrae bugging me, I decided to skip them for this trip. There's always next time.

On this trip with me this year is Chad. Chad is a neighbor and good friend of mine who wanted to see the glory that is Yellowstone. He got a bit more than he bargained for, but we both survived.

This video is NOT a guide. Please do the research before attempting a trip like this. You need the right gear and mindset to do this trip. Without the right gear, we would have been in deep trouble starting on day 3. Be prepared for the worst, and hope for the best, folks. If you have any questions for me, please add them in the comments. I'll do my best to answer all I can. Please keep your comments civil and polite.
