Avraham Fried LIVE in Concert (at The Hampton Synagogue)

JBS

Legendary Hasidic singer Avraham Fried plays a small venue with his trademark upbeat energy. Singing for an engaged and excited crowd at The Hampton Synagogue, many of whom were singing along to every tune, Fried plays all the hits from his nearly 40year career, as well as some new material. He pulls out such classics as "Moshiach," "Eliyahu Hanavi" and so many more, which are complemented by newer tracks like his plaintive song, "Abba." Fried, who launched his singing career in 1981 within the Chabad Lubavitch movement with the blessing (and encouragement) of Menachem Mendel Schneerson himself, has enjoyed an impressive run as ultraOrthodox Judaism's top entertainer. He also shows off his ability to connect with Jews from other sects with standards such as "Am Yisrael Chai" and "Yerushalayim Shel Zahav" (interestingly, Fried tells a story during the show of how Yehoram Gaon convinced him to start singing Israeli music). A consummate entertainer above all, Fried puts on an impressive show from start to finish, all while subtly weaving in beautiful Hasidic proverbs from either the Rebbe or his own experience. This was a program of The Hampton Synagogue, and their inhouse video production staff shot and (mostly) edited this piece and sent it electronically to JBS.
