Australia Deals with Millions of Feral Cats Invading City This Way | Australian Agriculture
Do you believe that every day feral cats can kill nearly 9 million animals across Australia? These animals are not as cute as we often think, they are aggressive and cause a lot of heavy damage. The problem of feral cats is becoming more urgent than ever and laws allowing hunting and extermination are being enforced to limit their numbers. So has Australia successfully prevented the feral cat invasion? We invite you to follow along with us to find out.
How Australians exterminate millions of feral cats
Feral cats are invasive animals in Australia, brought by European colonists in the 18th century and still growing strongly. A new study finds that feral cats inhabit 99.8% of the continent. Wild cats are the same species as domestic cats, however they live and breed in the wild and survive by hunting or scavenging. They are found throughout Australia in all habitats, including forests, woodlands, grasslands, wetlands and arid areas.
