8. SOUNDBITE (German) Oliver Lähndorf, head of the Affordable Art Fair:
“The concept is really to remove the hurdles and bring more people to art and culture. As a culture manager, I always try to focus on the 90 percent of people, not the top 10 percent, because they find their own ways. And this is the concept of the fair, and the reason I’m working on it for 15 years, to bring people closer to culture.”

9. Various of “Red” by Modestas Malinaukas, available for 1,810 euro
10. Woman looking at painting
11. SOUNDBITE (German) Oliver Lähndorf, head of the Affordable Art Fair:
“I don’t like speculation of art. I think art should be bought with the heart, not with the ear. That is very different at the other art fairs, here it's different. If you are looking for an investment, then its better to look at other fairs.”

14. Various of “Pandora” by Aren Shahnzaryan, available for 4,300 euro

16. Various of “Laid back” by Mireia Serra, available for 2,400 euro
17. SOUNDBITE (German) Oliver Lähndorf, head of the Affordable Art Fair:
“Look at where you build an emotion with the work. And maybe don’t buy anything on your first visit. We have a lot of people that come two or three years and get to know the art better, and that’s where we come in to help as cultural managers. And when they buy something after a few years, then I think that’s great. I don’t think of it as shortterm, but a longterm project. In Hamburg we have seen that many people who don’t buy anything in the first few years eventually end up with 20 works in their home. And that is of course great, for the galleries and the artist.”

If you're looking to bag some art but don't have millions to spare, the Affordable Art Fair could be a good place to start.

The fair holds events in several countries around the world. This weekend it's happening in Berlin where all works are on sale for between 100 and 10,000 euro.

STORYLINE:

Works from 50 galleries adorn the walls of this large warehouse in the German capital Berlin.

But what makes this art fair stand out from others is the cost of the work displayed.

The maximum price of a piece here is 10,000 euro, but most go for much less.

A mask from the “Bad Wolf” collection by Levi Leitner costs 1,000 euro.
