One of the most popular and enduring types of armour through the medieval period was maille, but was it good against arrows? Sometimes..... This first part looks at bladed type 16 arrows.
Importantly though maille was always worn with padded fabric armour, but was it important to wear maille over fabric or fabric over maille? Lets find out.
One of you guys, David Jones, first alerted me to the importance of which way round is best to wear your armour and many thanks to him and especially many, many thanks to Isak Krogh for allowing me to destroy his maille for this film.
