Ragdoll kitten Aria (7 months) was home for about 5 weeks before little brother River (11 weeks and unrelated) rained on her parade. Watch as the kitties slowly transition over 5 days. From hissing and head swats, to sniffing and nose bumps it was a bumpy ride. Thank goodness for the cat tunnels which proved to be our best ice breaker.

Aria is still the dominant one and River is a little whiny and submissive. It works.

Here’s how we introduced the kittens:
Day 1, River was set up in my bedroom for the first full day home. His litter box, food and water was in my bathroom and my bedroom door stayed closed. Hooman sis was out of town playing in a volleyball tournament, so I would sneak out of one room and go to the other to switch off spending time with both kitties.
Day 2, I opened the door a little. Aria came near but kept her distance. I folded laundry sitting in the hallway creating a barrier between the two. They could see one another but mostly observed. Day 3, I let River go downstairs to check things out. Aria followed. They had very minimal interaction and needed extra naps for the inherent stress.
Day 4, the tunnels became the best ice breaker. At first, Aria would just hiss at River. He could hide in a tunnel and she’d chill out and get curious. It was a fun game of hide and seek.
Day 5, I opened the window in the dining room. Both kittens hopped up and greeted one another with a nose bump rather than a hiss and a duck.
