Argentina have won the World Cup for the third time after they defeated France on penalties in the 2022 final in Qatar.

Lionel Messi & Angel Di Maria put Argentina into a 20 lead before a late quickfire double from Kylian Mbappe sent the game into extratime. Messi scored his second goal of the game as he restored Argentina's lead but Mbappe completed his hattrick in the dying minutes to rescue France again and send the game to a penalty shootout.
