Is an Ivy League school even worth it? As someone who attended Yale on full financial aid and now works in the education industry, I think I have a pretty unique view on this question.

For context, I am Kevin Zhen, 24 years old and the current cofounder of the Elevated School (formerly known as ZhenEd). I attended Yale from 20162020, where I lived in Ezra Stiles College, which for those of you don’t know is the strange Flintstone looking one. I honestly just did two main extracurriculars while I was there: the Yale Model United Nations Taiwan team and the Yale Breakdance Team. While I was there, I was also part of a secret society my last year and heavily involved in business – so much so that I didn’t really spend much time or effort on my Yale classes. In fact, I almost dropped out of Yale to become your classic entrepreneurtype, but in a series of unexpected events, I stuck through it and graduated with a degree in East Asian Studies, right at the height of the pandemic..

Jeff is a senior at Yale double majoring in Computer Science and East Asian Studies with a concentration on China. He has served as a Student Ambassador to the Yale Admissions Office, written extensively about college admissions on Quora and has taught courses on motivation, passion, and leadership while sponsored by the US Embassy in Tokyo.
