A review of an affordable electric wood chipper / shredder discussing the features and limitations of this useful garden tool. In this video we test a 2500w wood chipper’s ability to mulch garden cuttings including small branches and foliage.
Electric wood chippers are definitely a useful tool to have on hand for recycling plant cuttings as they provide you with plenty of wood chip mulch for your garden. The model I tested was quite effective at shredding small to medium sized cuttings up to about 4 cm in diameter. Any larger than this would be beyond the limits of an electric wood chipper of this size. More powerful units are available on the market if you needed something to shred through more substantial branches.
The bottom line: Used within it’s capacity, an electric wood chipper like this is a great garden shredder because it is effective on smaller branches and foliage and is small, moveable, easy to pack away store away when not in use. And, nowadays they can be found for a very reasonable price.
