Working with Adventure Life travel we chose the Antarctica cruise by Antarctica 21. The tour includes a two hour flight from Chile into Antarctica and a two hour flight to return. This avoids the two day traverse of the notorious Drake Passage.

The Magellan Explorer is a 73 passenger cruise ship specifically designed for Antarctica. Every day two lectures, a daily wrapup and two zodiac excursions are offered, rain or shine.

When it was time to fly back to Chile, the weather was notoriously fickle, and we ended up sailing through the Drake Passage for two days after all.
