Amy Jade Winehouse (born September 14, 1983) is an English singersongwriter who was born September 14, 1983. She is wellknown for her powerful deep contralto vocals and a wide range of musical styles. Her 2006 album, Back to Black, led to five Grammy Awards, tying the thenrecord for the most wins by a female artist in a single night.

She had a soullike quality to her voice that drew inspiration from jazz and blues music. Her songs frequently had personal themes, and she was known for her honesty and openness.

The Amy Winehouse Foundation was set up by Winehouse's family and launched on 14 September 2011 (which would have been Winehouse's 28th birthday). Its aim is to help vulnerable or disadvantaged young people.
