One thing we had to try was Hong Kong french toast! It looks amazing and we heard it's amazing so of course an American try hong kong french toast taste test video had to come! We Americans try hong kong food and it's really good and the portions are HUGE!! One order of this french toast is enough for a whole meal and it's unlike any french toast you've ever had!
Americans Try Hong Kong Bakery:
If there is one thing that we really didn't expect about Hong Kong, it has to be how many bakeries they have in the city. I don't think I could've ever guessed that in Hong Kong there would pretty much be at least one bakery on every street corner. And if there is so many of them, they have to be serving some good food right? So we woke up this morning with a mission to try some hong kong bakery food and that we did. Isaac got a normal sugar donut and a pineapple coconut pastry which ran him about $3. It's a little more expensive than pastries at US gas stations but the fresh quality was definitely on the next level from those. If you like pastries, especially some good breakfast pastries, I recommend you just find one that's busy with locals and buy something that looks tasty.
Hong Kong Street Markets Were Not What We Expected:
After breakfast.. at least for Isaac, Tyler is still having stomach problems, we took a stroll through the Mong Kok Ladies Street Market. It was... interesting. It seems like it's a market that is open every single day but it appeared like they set it up and take it down every single day. Also the stalls were just poles and tarps, which is completely unexpected with how modern the city itself is. We took 20 minutes to walk through the market but really, there wasn't much to do there. We decided to move over to Nathan Road instead.
Nathan Road and Insane Hong Kong Mall:
Nathan Road is what you expect from an insanely famous/touristy shopping street. Loads of famous and fancy brand stores line a street with a lot of traffic and a lot of lights. We aren't really the shopping type so we walked the street just to take in the atmosphere and feel the vibe but it's the Langham Place Mall that was really the surprise of the area. It was HUGE. TWELVE STORIES TALL! TWELVE!! Some of the escalators were so big it took a minute and forty seconds to ride to the top. The mall was fancy, massive, and pretty dang cool. I don't know what the tallest mall in the world is, but that could be it.

The Cheapest Hotel in Hong Kong:
The mall was conveniently connected directly to Hong Kong's MTR which is exactly what we needed. We only booked one night in the Metropark Kowloon and this night's hotel was the cheapest one we could find in the whole city. For $65 a night, we stayed in the Philippine Hostel right in the art of Kowloon. The location was fantastic. Not too far from the MTR and located right in the heart of all of Hong Kong. We've gotten much nicer hotels for half the price of this one but for Hong Kong, it's the cheapest we could get. Unfortunate, but that's just how it is.
Americans Try Hong Kong Food:
For dinner, we decided to just find something on the streets. Google Maps is how we usually find our food but in Hong Kong, it's significantly harder to use. Just the sheer number of restaurants in the city makes it hard to choose something and more often than not, the decently rated restaurants were overpriced "fancy" European restaurants. We did not want this, so instead we just started walking the streets to see what we could find. Eventually, we walked past a place that was almost completely full of locals and that was the place we chose called V & B Cuisine
The menu was huge with so many different Chinese dishes to choose from and a full bakery menu as well. We saw multiple people from the outside window chowing down on some French Toast and I figured it was time. I made the mistake of ordering the French Toast and a main course. The food a received was not edible for one person. Like I said before, the portion sizes in Hong Kong were insane! We chomped down our dinner and headed back to the hotel to get beauty sleep for our next day of adventure!
