American Express offers both credit cards and charge cards to their customers. Their blue cards are entry level credit cards that have limits on their spending. As a member of Amex Credit Cards for over a decade, I have 4 blue cards that have no annual fees and each of those credit cards have credit limits that range up to $20,000 per card. American Express also offers what we call charge cards, which are credit cards that have to be paid back by the end of the month.

Charge Cards are what the American Express Gold, American Express Platinum, which I have, and the American Express Centurion which is one of the hardest credit cards to get in the world.
