These are just some of the quotes Mum and Dad got when they were deciding whether to bring me home

Personally, I think both my parents and I proved a lot of people wrong. I still hear the odd person say things to them about me but that’s just because people misunderstand me, my breed and have a lack of knowledge about how to look after Akitas

If we’re understood more, well trained and look after we are one of the best breeds of dog to own. We’re quiet, loyal and loving just like any other but we know how to put our foot down if we really have to

American Akita wants to go to sleep (Nala’s Morning Routine).

My name is Nala and I’m a 4 year old American Akita living in England!

My start in life was not the best as I bounced from home to home for many different reasons where to this day I’m still not 100% sure as to why. Was it that they didn’t want me anymore? Was it circumstances? Was it my breed?

However, just after turning 1 I found my loving family and I’ve been with them ever since. I am a very happy girl who has found a sense of belonging. I still get anxious now and again but I am getting better at dealing with things as each year passes

The main reason for setting this page up is to show you the adventures of an American Akita and to help reduce the stigma around my breed. Many people are wary of me as we’re perceived as aggressive, nasty and overpowering dogs. Like any dog, if we’re trained and looked after well, we can be just as friendly as any other

I’m quiet, incredibly loyal, great with people and speak up to my furry friends when needed. Oh, I’m probably the most stubborn dog you’ll ever meet
