Short Alpine Dachsbracke Description:
Ideal height for this breed, according to the FCI breed standard, is 3638 cm. Weight wise, it is sturdy for its size. It is said to weigh around 3340 pounds, with the male generally being the bigger of the gender.

This is a double couted dog. The coat of the Alpine Dachsbracke consists of a very thick top coat and a close fitting dense undercoat that covers the entire body. The most common color is dark red. There can also be some light black hairs. You can also find Alpine Dachsbrackes in black with redbrown markings on the head, chest, legs, feet and underside of tail.

Most Alpine Dachsbrackes are excellent with children and good with dogs and other pets, but i would not leave this dog with some smaller pet unsupervised, since they do have a strong prey drive, just like every other scent dog.

As you can probably guess, there is some Dachshund blood in Alpine Dachsbracke. They were developed by crossing Dachshund with larger Austrian breeds.This breed was a favorite among Austrian nobles, known for its versatile abilities to hunt deer as well as fox, boar, hares, and more.

The Alpine Dachsbracke is prone to obesity. The breed was bred to work hard over difficult terrain and it is almost impossible to give them this physical exercise, when they are kept as companion pets, which can lead to gaining a lot of weight.
