This video explains every Armored Titan in the Attack on Titan anime and manga. The Armored Titan is one of 9 titan shifters in AOT and there have been several iterations of it throughout the AOT timeline. In the AOT manga we have currently seen more Armored titans than in the anime, which has only had 1 Armored Titan so far (Reiner Braun). The manga displays Armored Titans of the past, some of which have interesting designs. This video will explain the backstory of all Armored Titans (that we know of) and also commentate on the designs of the ancient titans.

In this video I’m gonna explain every Armored Titan in the history of attack on titan, ranging from nearly 2000 years ago all the way up till the present day of the series. The Armored potentially has the strongest protection of all nine titan shifters.

The first Armored Titan we’re gonna talk about is Reiner Braun. Reiner is the son of Karina Braun and a random Marlyean man. Reiner persevered in his attempt to become a warrior candidate but could only watch on as Marcel, Bertolt, Annie and the rest were chosen ahead of him. The problem was that he had no practical skills that put him above any of those other kids but he was eventually chosen as the final warrior candidate, after displaying a frightening loyalty to Marley in the written tests. This overthetop loyalty is something that Porco Galliard mocked Reiner for in the anime. Of the 7 warrior candidates, either porco or reiner was meant to inherit of the armoured titan. Reiner was selected as one of the four warrior who would infiltrate Paradis island, with Zeke and Pieck staying behind in Marley.

On Paradis, Marcel revealed the truth that Reiner was never meant to be chosen as a warrior. Before Reiner could even process this information, Ymir’s pure titan appeared out of nowhere and if it wasn’t for Marcel pushing him out the way, Reiner would’ve been eaten by Ymir.

In terms of the design of Reiner's armoured titan, it stands at 15 metres tall and with the exception of some minor areas, his entire body is covered by armoured plates. The front Reiner's neck is one of those exposed areas, but luckily his nape has two protruding bits of hardening that protect his human body. Reiner has an armoured mouth guard that opens in an almost mechanical way and it’s short blonde hair was identical to Reiner himself. As a trained warrior candidate, he is able to use this titan in very interesting ways, such as selectively destroying parts of his armor to increase his speed or hardening his fingers so that he was able to scale the walls of Paradis. Despite that, I’d say that advances in technology have affected this titan more than any other, as the armor is it’s main selling point but it can’t withstand antititan artillery or the thunder spears. According to Bertolt, neither he nor Reiner could remember the memories of their predecessors, so as of making this video we don’t know who had this titan before he did.

The first ancient titan we should talk about is one that was covered from head to toe in relatively small plates of hardening. This design was obviously inspired by the thing from fantastic four, as Isayama has never been afraid to take inspiration from western media. For example, Reiner’s armored titan was modelled after Brock Lesnar. With the exception of its neck area, it looks like The Thing has no areas where it’s not covered in armor.

Chapter 137 was the debut of another ancient armored titan, who we saw fighting the female titan. It has curved armor on it’s face which looks cool alongside it’s hair and unlike Reiner it has no mouth guard, so it’s teeth are completely exposed.

The helmet armored titan made it’s appearance in the previous chapter and as the name I gave it suggests, it’s defining feature is the mediaval style armor on it’s head.

Because the back of the helmet is shaped like this, it means the nape area is protected by both the regular armor hardening on the back and the helmet as too, so trying to defeat this Armoured would’ve been incredibly difficult. The one downside of this ancient titan design is that there is a lot of bare flesh exposed on its face but beyond that it looks pretty good.
