Back in 1999 my wife Brooke and I decided to spend our winter as caretakers of a remote homestead in the Aleutian islands of Alaska. For 7 months we fought the isolation, terrible weather, and the deadly waters of the Bearing sea and northern Pacific Ocean. This is the story of our winter in the Aleutian islands.
