Air Lift 1000 on a Dodge RAM 1500 with 6' Lift

Follow
Oh Hey Its Billy

I have a 2014 RAM 1500 Crew Cab 4x4.

If you're looking up videos for an Air Lift 1000 to install it yourself, so was I. However what was interesting in my case, is I have a 6" Fabtech lift kit. (If your truck is stock, this video will still work, since they're installed the with the exact same methods). Internet go easy on me! haha I am a amateur videographer I'm just posting this video to pay it forward.

If you have a RAM 1500 and you're looking at this kit, then you know how these trucks don't have leaf springs in the back, but rather, coil springs. The Air Lift 1000 bags fit inside of the coils.

Well, having the 6 inch Fabtech lift, it replaced my factory rear coil springs and uses a taller Fabtech spring.

So I searched to the ends of the internet to find anyone somewhere, on YouTube, forums, etc. any where, that installed this kit on a lifted truck... and I couldn't find anything.

So first: One has to know fundamentally how these bags work. Once you do (I explain it in my video) I didn't see why they wouldn't work on my truck with a slightly taller spring. I even called Air Lift. They said they'd work just fine, but obviously there would be a few coils on the spring that wouldn't have any influence by the bag due to the spring being taller and the bag only being so long. Additionally, they do not sell a taller bag (yet).

So here I am. I made this video so you guys can see what it's like on a lifted truck.

I worked alone on the project, so I had to hold my camera on my own for a little bit, so I'm sorry for the odd camera angles, haha.

But anyhoo, shoot me a comment if need be and I'll answer any questions you may have.

So far the bags have been working great and doing their advertised job.

Take care guys and be safe.
