Adi Kailash & Om Parvat Yatra from Dharchula was my first Panch Kailash Yatra. Adi Kailash is also known as Chota Kailash, is located on the IndoChina border in Pithoragarh district of Uttarakhand. To reach Adi Kailash, you first have to reach Dharchula, a town in Pithoragarh, Dharchula is a small hill station in Pithoragarh district, permit is issued from here for Adi Kailash Yatra.

From Dharchula, you have to reach Gunji village via places like Tawaghat, Bundi, Chalak and then two roads intersect from Gunji. One path leads to Adi Kailash and the other to Mount Om. Gunji is about 90 kilometers from Dharchula. Beyond Gunji, passing through villages like Nabi and Kuti, you reach Jyolingkong, which can be called the base camp of Adi Kailash. Jyolingkong is about 32 kilometers from Gunji. You can visit Adi Kailash and Parvati Sarovar by trekking one and a half to two kilometers from Jyolingkong. Adi Kailash is very similar to Kailash Mansarovar, hence it is also called Mini Kailash. There are many stories and beliefs associated with Adi Kailash. It is considered to be the divine abode of Mahadev.

Adi Kailash is considered to be the second most important Kailash after Kailash Mansarovar.
There is a sacred Parvati Sarovar and a small temple dedicated to Mahadev and Maa Parvati. Apart from this you can see another special place which is called 'Bheem Ki Kheti'
From Parvati Sarovar you can see divine views of Himalayan peaks all around. Apart from Adi Kailash, you can also visit Om Parvat.

To see Om mountain, you have to reach a place called Nabidhang from Gunji via Kalapani. Nabhidhang is about 18 kilometers away from Gunji, And from here you get to see the sacred Om Mountain, the snow lying on this mountain takes the shape of the word Om, that is why this mountain was named Om Parvat. Darshan of Mount Om is an important part of Adi Kailash Yatra. Without which the journey to Adi Kailash is incomplete.
