Adam went to Saltburn in Yorkshire to find out about beach safety and how to surf because BP fan Georgia gained a silver badge for raising money for the RNLI. So Adam wanted to find out more! He meets a lifeguard there who talked him through the different flags which show whether it’s safe or not to swim/ kayak or said in etc. He also learnt about rip currents. There are 4 things to remember at the beach:

Step 1 stop and think about if the beach has hazards (look at the flags).
Step 2 stay together. If you’re with your friends or family, don’t go too far from each other.
Step 3 float! If you get in trouble in the water, float on your back in a starfish position.
Step 4 if there’s an emergency ring 999.
If everything’s fine then GO HAVE FUN AT THE BEACH!
