Dove’s ribs protrude from her small, 4monthold body. Weak, tired, and injured, she laid almost completely still on a Santa Fe Animal Shelter exam table. Besides her obvious starvation, clinic staff discovered that Dove had also suffered an injury that resulted in a fractured pelvis. Because the wound was left untreated an infection took hold and spread throughout Dove’s bones causing damage to her femur. She was exhausted from fighting for her life.
