Today I’m interviewing Iain McGilchrist, the author of The Master and His Emissary. It’s a book that I’ve found deeply relevant and one that I consider to be extremely timely given our current situation.

Iain’s ideas about how the brain works and their impact on how we perceive and interact with the world around us offer insight into where we may be headed as a culture.

I wanted to interview Iain because I felt strongly compelled to share these ideas with you. His thinking has really influenced me in my creative process, and I hope his way of seeing the world opens up something for you too.

One of the things that he speaks about, and something that I see happening around me, is that there seems to be a kind of devaluing or colonization of right brain values.

Ways of perceiving and understanding that have much more to do with being able to hold a broad, inclusive world view, reciprocity with the natural world, and the ability to listen and respond to the world in a more holistic way.

In the interview, we speak about the importance of this different kind of listening, and why it might be an important key in navigating our quickly changing world.
