Sabah, on the island of Borneo, has an astonishing diversity of hornbill species, with eight calling the state home. These intriguing birds serve an important part in the rainforest environment, dispersing seeds and contributing to overall forest health.

Hornbill nests are intriguing structures that are exclusive to these magnificent birds. They are most commonly found in the hollows of huge trees, often high in the canopy. The female hornbill will find a suitable cavity and, with the assistance of her mate, close the entrance with mud and debris, leaving only a small slit for her to feed food through.
