All the European Starlings in North America descended from 100 birds set loose in New York's Central Park in the early 1890s.
Starlings are great vocal mimics: individuals can learn the calls of up to 20 different species.
46 eggs, rarely 7 were laid. Greenish white to bluish white, unmarked. Incubation is by both parents (female does more), about 12 days. Starlings sometimes lay eggs in each other's nests.
Both parents feed nestlings. Young leave nest about 21 days after hatching. 2 broods per year.
