Back in June, I did a quick solo overnight backpacking trip up to Marmot Pass on the northeast side of the Olympic Mountains. Since the prevailing winds come from the southwest, this area falls in a rain shadow and is one of the first alpine regions in Washington to melt out enough for snowfree backpacking. Felt great to get back on the trail and I lucked out with a calm night camping on top of a notoriously exposed and windy ridge line.
Finished off the trip with another night of car camping in Olympic National Park and dragging my sore legs around the shores of Lake Crescent for a bit.
