“If you’re fascinated with electronics and the way things work, the way things are automated, different machine learning capabilities, and Artificial Intelligence, then there’s really a lot of opportunity in this world for you.” Joel Prather, Maintenance Manager of Wastewater Enterprise, San Francisco Public Utilities Commission

Electronic instrument technicians are problem solvers that know how to manage and maintain all the different parts of automotive machinery. In the city of San Francisco, EITs make upwards of $78,000 per year, depending on your experience. One of the ways to pursue this career pathway is to join an apprenticeship program.

In this video, hear from two experienced technicians and how they got started. They’ll share some advice about how to get started and what it’s like working for the city of San Francisco at the Public Utilities Commission (PUC), the entity that provides water, wastewater, and electric power services to the city and three San Francisco Bay Area counties.
