The Indigo Bunting is one of my favorite birds. This beautiful classification of bird is know for their melodious songs, and each species has it's own. There are about 40 different species of Bunting around the world.

Here are some cool facts about them:

Some species of Bunting, such as the Indigo Bunting migrate at night. They use stars to guide them and are able to adjust course, even as the stars move through the night sky.

Most Buntings learn their songs at a very young age. some local bunting songs can last for up to 20 years as "the song neighborhood" continually teaches others the same song.

Some buntings undergo a phenomenon known as "molt migration." Instead of migrating to breeding or wintering grounds, these birds migrate to specific molting sites where they undergo their annual feather molt.
