Feedback is that annoying highpitched whistle that some people get from their hearing aids. This feedback whistling occurs when sound coming out of the hearing aid’s speaker is picked up by the microphone in an endless cycle. Examples of hearing aid feedback sounds are provided in the video.

The key fundamental way to prevent feedback involves stopping the amplified sound from being picked up by the microphone!

Here is a stepbystep way to address feedback when encountered.
Step 1: Check for proper hearing aid insertion (0:25)
Step 2: Check for earwax (0:38)
Step 3: Check for any physical defects (0:52)
Step 4: Check for any internal feedback (1:09)
Step 5: Check hearing aid programming (1:26)
Step 6: Change hearing aid dome or ear mold (1:35)
Step 7: Turn the volume down! (1:49)
