As winter is approaching, Grandfather and Heidi go to the village to get supplies for the cold season. As she stops at Peter’s place, Heidi realises that Grandmother’s favourite thing is fresh bread. But the old woman can’t afford to buy some every day so Heidi promises Grandmother to bring some back. In the village, even though she offers to pay with a fossil she found in the cave, the grocers refuse to sell her bread. Theresa then tricks Heidi and “sells” her a loaf of bread for her fossil. Heidi doesn’t know that Theresa actually sold her Barbel’s bread...
