6-Hour $250 Pressure Washing Job In 8 Minutes (Oddly Satisfying)

Follow
Copper Creek Cuts Lawn Care

I was on the property from close to 8AM until just after 2PM. Also this was back in January or February, hence the cold temps.

You will find pressure washing takes a significant amount of pre and postwork in addition to the actual work, and pressure washing the front and back patio along with the driveway/walkway meant disconnecting/moving/reconnecting the pressure washing setup several times (510 minutes each time), moving furniture and putting it back (510 minutes each time), I also had to get a car moved which ate up about 15 minutes. Included in that time is also the time spent filming before and after shots with the drone (probably five minutes setup/work for a few 2 second shots each time) as well as before and after pictures with the camera/tripod (probably 3 minutes each time), and also moving the camera and changing batteries during the work itself (probably 20 minutes worth of time there). Don't forget the first setup getting everything out of the truck and trailer, and the last breakdown putting it all back in and draining hoses, which is easily another 20 minutes. Lastly, cleaning with the nozzle takes much longer than a surface cleaner.

Q: Why didn't you use a surface cleaner?
A: Unfortunately my 20" surface cleaner streaks. I think it is too large for my pressure washer. Also, videos that feature my surface cleaner do more poorly than using the wand. I don't think it creates as satisfying an experience, but who knows?

Q: Isn't this a reupload?
A: I often make multiple versions of videos for varying attention spans. The previous version was 1 minute long and was more of a gag. This video is for folks who enjoy the noise or have more time on their hands.

Q: What equipment are you using?
A: ECHO PW4200 pressure washer and this is the turbo nozzle I used (https://amzn.to/34lTiN6). However, that will be overkill for most homeowners and this nozzle (https://amzn.to/35px24t) is a great one if you have a sub 4000psi machine.

Q: What are the specs on your pressure washer?
A: The ECHO PW4200 is a 4 gallon per minute machine with adjustable PSI up to 4200. I think the hose is non marring rubber and 50 feet.

Q: What is a turbonozzle?
A: A turbo nozzle is a rotating 0 degree tip. 0 degree tips have tremendous cleaning power but cover a very narrow surface (think pencil tip). 15 degree yellow tips have less cleaning power but cover a wider, fan shaped area (think paint brush). A turbo nozzle has the cleaning power of a 0 degree tip but covers a circular area wider than a 15 degree yellow. Kind of a best of both worlds thing.

Q: What did you charge?
A: I am still learning how to charge for pressure washing. Most jobs I am getting closer every time, but still underbidding. I do this in addition to lawn care/landscaping, so I don't do it every day. All that as a disclaimer, this job was bid at and accepted for $250.

Q: What did you use to clean?
A: Just water. No chemicals were used in this job.

Q: Do you use the client's water or bring your own?
A: Guys who do this all day will have their own buffer water tanks. I am not that into it so I just use client's water supplies. Be aware setups over 4 GPM are really when you HAVE to start bringing your own water, there just isn't enough PSI to feed it from a standard water supply (in my local area at least).

Q: What an amateur. I can tell because of how you do X, Y, or Z.
A: Spot on! I never claimed to be an expert. This is just something I do on the side to make fun videos for viewers and offer another service to clients.

Pressure washing or power washing is the use of highpressure water spray to remove loose paint, mold, grime, dust, mud, chewing gum and dirt from surfaces and objects such as buildings, vehicles and concrete surfaces. The volume of a mechanical pressure washer is expressed in gallons or liters per minute, often designed into the pump and not variable. The pressure, expressed in pounds per square inch, pascals, or bar, is designed into the pump but can be varied by adjusting the unloader valve. Machines that produce pressures from 750 to 30,000 psi (5 to 200 MPa) or more are available.
