57 Chevy Bel Air Restoration - Dad's Birthday Surprise

Tony Pinto

We surprised Dad with his completely restored 1957 Chevy Bel Air on his birthday. Major props to my brother and his friend Greg for the amazing restoration work.

This was about a 9 month project. Sid's Auto Body in San Diego did all of the paint and body work. We had all the chrome stripped and triple nickel plated. We had all of the stainless taken off and polished. We had all of the pot metal repaired and chromed, so it's still the original trim. We put in a brand new 57 Chevy crate, 330 horsepower, 380 foot pound torque, 350 Vortec engine.

We put in a brand new EnduraShine Edelbrock manifold. It's fuel injected. We had all of the aluminum chromed, so there's no more polishing. We also had the pulleys chromed, even the ones you can't see. We rebuilt the steering box and water pump, as well as the entire front suspension. We put on all new Aarm shaft kits with polyurethane bushings, all new upper and lower ball joints, and tie rod end caps. We had the upper and lower tie control arms, as well as the springs. powder coated.

The restoration took countless hours and a lot of money, but it was worth it. Dad was so surprised and now he takes his restored 57 Chevy Bel Air classic muscle car to car shows all the time.
