I've always struggled to find the right music to accompany the footage of these incredible ancient sites from the Prescott Culture. Enter Praxis...I haven't listened to them in years. Logged into my old Apple ID account and downloaded all the tracks I used to jam to. This one is called "The Interworld and the New Innocence" which I think fits the vibe of this other worldly terrain. I'm going to backpack through this area once the weather warms up, I've found so many INCREDIBLE spots to take in the sunset in the maze of canyons. This location is a short 15 minute drive from my place on a deserted county road. Feel so fortunate to call this corner of the world my home!
My thoughts on this site I feel it was a religious spot where individuals from the Prescott Culture would come to perform rituals. There is zero artifact assemblage in the immediate vicinity but lots of nearby structures with pottery and projectile points suggesting habitation at those particular locations. If you notice in the last frame, this site is lined up with a massive peak in the background. That particular peak was the first place the Prescott Culture settled when arriving in Western Arizona around 200 A.D. They inhabited this area of the country for 1,200 years building the most impressive hilltop sites I've ever seen. I've mapped a total of 59 sites so far with my drone (there are rumored to be around 240 sites) and absolutely cannot wait to hike up to these locations this year.
