48 Hours in Berlin 🇩🇪 Germany Travel Vlog

We have officially left Southeast Asia (for now) and are making our way over to Spain then the United States to visit our famillies for the first time in a couple years! It just happened that our flights were cheaper to fly to Berlin, then two days later fly back to Spain. This gave us two jet lagged days to explore Berlin, Germany! Our flight arrived pretty early in the day, but luckily there are huge lockers in the main Berlin train station that we could store our bags in for only 6€ for 24 hours! We left our stuff and stopped by an amazing bakery for our first German pretzels and some (hot) coffee. Then we took the tram to Alexanderplatz where we could see the TV Tower (Berliner Fernsehturm) which is the tallest building in Germany at 368m! We walked around the areas for a little looking at all the buildings and little flea markets in the streets. We continued walking along the river which was lined with cute little restaurants. We stopped by to try some famous German beers. After we left we continued to walk through Berlin until we reached the Zollpackhof Biergarten. It was an amazing Biergarten full of German food, beer, and lots of people. We ended up in line next to a man from Cuba who has been living in Berlin many years. He recommended his favorite meat for Carles to try and even ordered it for him! We had so much fun in our first ever German beer garden! After we made it through the beer garden, we went back to the train station to pick up our bags and checking into our hostel yes, it was cheaper for us to get two beds in a hostel than a hotel in Berlin in the summer! We wanted to fight our jet lag a little longer, but we ended up going to sleep really early for about 14 hours!
The next morning we headed to Pariser Platz, home of the famous Brandenburg Gate, to start our free walking tour. Right next to the gate is the famous Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe (or the Holocaust Memorial). It's one of the most famous memorials in all of Berlin. From there we walked to the most 'authentic' part of the Berlin Wall outside of the Topography of Terror Museum. Next we walked past a random store and our guide pointed out the 'Stumbling Stone Memorials' (Stolpersteine) in the ground. Apparently there are over 70,000 of these memorial stones across Europe and Russia and we didn't even notice them until he showed us! We also learned some interesting information about the old traffic lights in East Berlin. Our last stop was in Bebelplatz to see the Nazi Book Burning Memorial which is a huge empty bookshelf underground. Once our tour ended we wanted to stop by some museums, but first we had to run to the Reichstag Building to try to get walk in tickets for the glass dome! We were so lucky in that there were still some walk in tickets available! We were able to walk the whole way up the glass dome parliament building which was so cool! Our last stop of the day was the East Side Gallery the part of the Berlin Wall that's covered in graffiti. We walked along the wall for a while until we arrived at the famous mural of the two men kissing. We then went straight to bed as we were still jet lagged and walked over 20km, BUTTTT our next video will be from Spain! ❤❤❤
