One of the most popular mountain biking trails in Southern California, Marshall Canyon is remarkable for its varied and beautiful terrain. The canopy of oaks towering above the first leg of the trail conjures up images of Sherwood Forest. The oaks, foliage and streams help keep the trail cool and shady. There is a little bit of everything here: single track, double track, horse trails, fire road climbs, rocky streams, fun jumps, and undulating terrain. The downhill is fast and flowynot too technical. Marshall Canyon connects to Claremont Loop an additional 5 miles, and 800 vertical feet ascent. You can connect to Potato Mountain as well for a 17 mile round trip ride, with a total 3100 ft of ascent.
Overall, Marshall is a fun easy ride with the buddies. It's a good trail to introduce beginners to the sport as well. I take my 6 yearold son to ride here, and he has a blast!
