Gauge for Cowl Pattern

10 sts = 4 inch across (10 cm) in hdc in st, slst in next.
6 rows = 4 inch (10 cm) in hdc in st, slst in next.

A gauge swatch is vital for a wellfitting crochet project. It determines stitch tension and measures the number of stitches and rows. Comparing it to the pattern's gauge ensures the final item fits as desired. Adjust your hook or tension if needed for the perfect fit.

Yarn used in this pattern:
1 Skien Homespun yarn Note I have found sometimes my yarn was short when making adult size. Check that you have a full skein or buy extra just in case.
or 2 1/2 Skeins Loops & Threads Charisma or equivalent gauge yarn

Notes about yarn:

This cowl looks best when using a thicker chunky yarn that has a bit of texture to it.

Yarn Gauge:
Gauge must be matched for the correct texture and feel of this cowl, matching the recommended yarn gauge can assist in successful substitution and result in a more accurate finished product.

1 – 3 Years 6” x 6”
310 Years 10” x 10”
Preteen 12” X 12”
Adult 14” x 14”

Notes

For the best texture, ensure that each time you turn your work, you are working your hdc into the previous round's slst and all your slst’s into the previous round's hdc.

This cowl is designed as a loose fit if you would like a snugger fit that is a little less fashion and a lot more warmth simply reduce the foundation chain to a size that is perfect for your personal use. Be sure to keep your starting chain a multiple of 2.

Turning chain does not count as stitch.
