TEDx Talks

Empathy is not a skill that we magically develop overnight. It’s not even a skill that we ever truly “master;” however, in her talk, “The Power of Empathy: Giving Someone a Listening EAR to Build Strong Connections,” Rolonda discusses three easy steps (remembered by the mnemonic EAR) that will teach individuals how to show more empathy in their daily interactions. Rolonda Donelson is an attorney and Fellow at the National Health Law Program(NHeLP) and the O’Neill Institute for National and Global Health Law through the Maeve McKean Women’s Law & Public Policy Fellowship Program. Through this fellowship she applies a reproductive justice lens to advocate for equitable access to sexual and reproductive health care services for all individuals. She is passionate about movement lawyering and centering the voices of directly impacted communities. Although she currently engages in policy work, she has previously provided directclient services through participation in her law school’s Gender Justice Clinic and internship at an immigration legal series organization. Rolonda holds a Bachelors degree with dual majors in Politics and International & Global Studies (IGS) from Brandeis University and a J.D. from the American University Washington College of Law. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
