3 Steps For A Safe Return To Working Out After Sciatica Pain [REAL Coaching Call]

If you're suffering with sciatica (sciatic nerve pain down the leg), then you know first hand just how painful this can be. It can keep you from doing the most basic of tasks let alone going to the gym or working out. In this video, I share a coaching call I had with a woman dealing with sciatica who had progressed to the point inside our Glute Relief Accelerator Program where she was looking to get back to working out. I coach her on the 3 steps to safely return to her workouts:

Step 1: ID your yucky motions and ask, "how will these/do these yucky motions show up in my workout?"

Step 2: Review your workout to identify any movement pattern which may be common OR threatening. View your workout psychologically: Does the thought of doing the activities within your workout make you cringe? Do they feel threatening at first thought? If so, you may be setting yourself up for a flare up.

Step 3: Check your pulse (the quality of your movement experience). Use your yucky motion as a gauge for how your brain + body is tolerating your workout/activity use it to check your movement experience as you get back to working out.

By following this 3 step framework when getting back to working out, weight lifting, running, or any activity in general while dealing with back, butt, or sciatica pain you can give yourself the best chance of being successful without flaring symptoms up.
