Welcome to another amazing video from Paddy's DIY

In this video I'm going to be showing the two methods I use get perfect door seal corner joints. This seal is the joinery seal that is most common in Ireland. It is a type of kerf seal. The kerf being the channel that the seal sits into. Kerf is a term that's not used in Ireland and the UK.

The first method requires very accurate cuts. I'm using a special shears for cutting seals at angles. You will need two perfect 45 degree cuts for this to work. I use superglue on one of the seals and superglue activator on the other one. When the glue sets it will give you a perfect joint.

The second method is the one I use 99.9 percent of the time, and the method I would recommend you use. As it doesn't require any special tools or glue. Push the seal into the channel and mark the inside rebate and outside rebate and cut with a scissors. Don't cut the whole way through,
stop right at he edge. Push the seal into the opposite channel and line up the cut with the outside rebate edge. Mark the inside rebate and cut with a scissors. Stopping at the edge again. Now fold the seal to form a perfect 90 degree angle and a perfect corner joint.

Alternatively instead of using superglue, you could try melting slightly one edge of the seal with a soldering iron of the likes and
quickly sticking it to the other seal. I haven't tried this but I'm sure it would work too.
