HIGHSDeluxe interior, perky acceleration, athletic handling doesn't compromise comfortable ride.

LOWSRough idle from fourcylinder engine, steering could feel weightier, pricier to start than other luxury SUVs.

VERDICTIt wears designer duds and pampers with a highend cabin, but the Grecale's powertrain could use some polish.

Overview

Part athlete and part fashionista, the 2024 Grecale anchors the Maserati lineup with a tailored cabin and oodles of curb appeal. The turbocharged fourcylinder under its hood comes in two strengths—296 or 325 horsepower—and comes hooked to an eightspeed automatic and standard allwheel drive. Its distinctive styling sets it apart from rivals such as the Alfa Romeo Stelvio, BMW X3, and Porsche Macan, and so does its price, which starts thousands higher than those other SUVs. The Grecale makes up for that with a higher level of standard equipment, including cabin trimmings that are a class above. While the standard Grecale offers a decent amount of driver satisfaction, the performanceoriented Trofeo model (reviewed separately) is the one to consider if your priorities include acceleration and handling.

What's New for 2024?

The Grecale debuted last year as a new model, so it doesn't see many changes for 2024. All trims get a slightly restyled steering wheel, and the Modena model gets a new optional wheel design. Maserati has also launched its customization program this year. It's called the Fuoriserie Personalization Program and it provides buyers with many more paint, wheel, and interior options when designing their Grecale.

Pricing and Which One to Buy

The price of the 2024 Maserati Grecale starts at $69.995 and goes up to $78.495 depending on the trim and options.

GT $69,995

Modena $78,495

Although its starting price places it among the priciest compact luxury crossovers in the class, we'd still recommend upgrading to the Modena trim, since it unlocks the fourcylinder engine's maximum 325 horsepower. That's not all you get for that nearly $10,000 upcharge, though, as the Modena trim also includes adaptive dampers, 20inch wheels, a power sunroof, 14way poweradjustable front seats, adaptive cruise control, wood interior trim, and more.
