The 2023 MercedesAMG GT Coupe is a cleansheet design that shares much of its DNA with the new MercedesAMG SL 63 Roadster.

So while it ditches the old model’s rear transaxle layout, AMG’s new flagship coupe takes fresh aim at the iconic Porsche 911 with more space, more seats and more tech – plus standard allwheel drive and trick semiactive suspension – making it a better allrounder than before.

But is that what AMG GT customers want? John Mahoney attended the global press launch to investigate.
