2023 IAC Annual Conference Intertribal Agriculture Council (IAC) Board member Meagen Baldy delivers the keynote address.

A member of the Hoopa Valley Tribe, Meagen reflects on her journey in agriculture and the significance of Native foods in her life and community. As a mother of six, she emphasizes the importance of food security and her role as a caregiver. Drawing from personal experiences growing up on the reservation, Meagen shares how her family and culture shaped her understanding of food, weaving a passion for preserving traditional food practices into her work, community projects, and youth education initiatives. Grateful for the opporutnity to work with organizations like IAC, Meagen highlights the resilience of Native women in agriculture and their vital role in sustaining food systems essential to the health and wellbeing of their communities. Through heartfelt words, Meagen inspires an appreciation for the profound connections between food, culture, and identity.

Meagen Baldy joined the IAC Board of Directors in 2017. Since then, she has become a respected leader in agriculture, driving positive change within Indian Country and beyond.
