Our Chrysler van started leaking oil and it didn't take long for it to get worse. After inspecting the engine compartment, it was clear that it was leaking from the top of the engine just under the intake manifold. I did some research and 90 percent of the oil leaks associated with the Pentastar pointed to the Oil Filter Housing/Oil cooler assembly. This engine is used on several Dodge/Jeep/Chrysler products! That was the problem with our van. This appears to be a common issue with this part. Part availability is also a concern as most of the OEM parts are on back order.
Start to finish, this took me about 6 hours to complete the removal and installation of the oil filter housing. I also changed my spark plugs since they were accessible and it had been about 60k since I changed them last. I didn't show this in the video but I did torque the oil cooler, lower intake manifold and upper manifold bolts to factory specs. Please make sure you torque these parts correctly to ensure a proper and problem free installation!
Thanks for watching and good luck with your project!
Thanks!!
