2006 Mercedes Benz E55 AMG Fuel Pump Assembly Installation Tips W211

Hey guys! Thanks for tuning into the channel and today we're working on the fuel pump assembly on my e55 AMG. I get a leak on the left (driver side) fuel pump assembly whenever I put more than 5 or 6 gallons of gas in the car and drive spiritedly. Been putting off the job as long as I could but sucks going to the gas station every other day.

Not the hardest thing to do and you can accomplish the task with basic simple tools. Seat needs to come off, peel back the fire sheathing(?) and you'll have access to both covers of the tank as shown in the video. Use 8mm socket to remove the bolts holding down the cover and peel it off. You can use a screwdriver to loosen the cover or purchase the tool that I highlighted in video. Then disconnect all hoses in the right (passenger side) fuel pump, a total of 2 hose connections/1 electrical plug and 2 strawlike hose that simply clip into the fuel pump assembly . Now fish all that stuff out from the left (driver side) and remove the fuel pump assembly. Installation is just reversing the order we just accomplished.

Tips:

1)get two seal/gasket because you minus well replace both of them while the pump is exposed. I didn’t realize that I had to get access to the right fuel pump for all of the hose connections so I ended up not having enough. If you’re in a bind and only have one gasket on hand (like myself), put the new one on the left side because this side requires more work ( 2 electrical connections and one rubber gas hose) while the right side only requires you to disconnect one electrical hose, pump cover slides off and the pump can remain inside the tank while you replace the gasket.

2)The rubber hose runs to the front of the car and feeds the fuel rail so even if you disconnect the battery there will still be quite a bit of gasoline pouring through that hose. Highly recommend that you have a ton of rags available to soak up the spillage. I thought about clamping that rubber hose but seeing that it’s 16 years old I didn’t wanna make more work for myself and rupture the hose in some way. If you have a better idea I’d love to hear it...

3) Take your time and be patient when routing the plastic hoses from the left side of the car to the right side, there is a small opening that all of those four tubes and electrical connector will fit through. As stated in the video I was lucky enough to be able to fit my hand into the opening of the right fuel tank and gently direct the hoses over to their connection points.

4) Make sure you buy the adapter hardness so you can complete the job in one shot. FCP euro is awesome and they're sending it overnight for me so hopefully I'll have it Friday, 4/8/22.

These are the parts that I'm using.
