2 Day Lake District Mountain Wild Camping & 22 KM Hiking Adventure with the GOAT!

In this video, we head out to the Lake District National Park for our annual 'lads trip' which usually involves a fair old hike, a fair few beers and some great camping! The weekend adventure began at Gillside campsite at Glenridding; which is basic in terms of amenities but exactly what a proper camp site should be! Top location, no nonsense with fantastic views! Our quiet night in the pub took a drastic turn when a retirement party burst through the doors with some local NHS staff sending their colleague off to enjoy retirement on a high with fantastic live music, we ended up out until 1AM and 9 pints down!

The Nortent 'Vern 2' provided refuge for the hangover palacial for one I look forward to many more camps in this tent before a standalone review!

The next day saw a few dodgy heads and with a 22KM mountain hike ahead of us, we headed for a breakfast at the Helvellyn Cafe to sort things out! A lovely steamer ride to Howtown and an impromptu visit to the Howtown Hotel saw us sink a few more beers in the sun as well as a light lunch. We set off much later than planned but life shouldn't be regimented!

A bit of a grueller to the summit of Beda Fell after the beer garden session, but needs must! We arrived at our location in good time and set about pitching the tents.

The TarpTent Stratospire 1 was pitched in just under 2 minutes genuinely. A fantastic trekking pole shelter and very practical with two vestibules. Again, a standalone review will come in due course.

A few craft beers and evening meal and an early night all round. The next morning, we were woken by the noisy Canada Geese; who were no doubt annoyed that we had taken their spot. Quick breakfast before a tough hike down to Boredale Hause then up the steep path to the summit of Place Fell mental challenge. Descent to Sanwick and then south on the Ullswater Way back to Glenridding. I found the hike tough and a real challenge but that's what it's all about good fun, good exercise and top memories with an ace group of lads.

Thank you for watching, Chris.
