12/6/1997 Atlanta, Ga #11 Auburn(92) vs. #3 Tennessee(101)

Both Auburn and Tennessee would be making their first appearance in the SEC Championship Game. Tennessee's Heisman candidate QB Peyton Manning was looking to end his college career by finally winning a championship. Auburn was lead by QB Dameyune Craig who was their main offensive weapon.

Tennessee jumped out to an early 70 lead but turnovers would cost Tennessee as Auburn built a 2010 lead at halftime. Auburn would continue keep the lead because of Tennessee turnovers and lead 2717 midway through the 3rd quarter. Tennessee would respond on the next drive with a touchdown but Auburn would block the extra point and return it all the way back for a 2 point conversion for a 2923 lead. Tennessee would finally retake the lead in the 4th quarter and would go on to run out the clock to win the SEC Championship 3029.
