A television adaptation of Bertolt Brecht's first fulllength play, Baal, was first broadcast on BBC One on Tuesday, 2 March 1982. It starred David Bowie, and was directed by Alan Clarke.

The following Saturday, 6 March 1982, presenter Sir Huw Wheldon was joined on Did You See by guests David Lodge, Diana Quick and Andrew Motion to discuss the merits of the showing.
