Long before Survivor, a TV reporter and a group of strangers were sent into remote wilderness with limited supplies for two weeks.

Armed with a bag of oats, and the bare essentials — a knife, axe, torch, billycan, string, length of wire and box of waterproof matches — the six participants were filmed as part of a rare (at the time) TV experiment.

The ABC caught up with Beverly and Greg Mead for their reflections on the experience 44 years later: http://tiny.cc/pc4v5y

'A Question of Survival' aired on ABC's Four Corners program on 8 November 1975.
