1969 Camaro SS LS1 Conversion

1969 Camaro SS All original panels, original Lemans blue, factory 12 bolt, and factory a/c.

This is a true SS car that was purchased for a LS conversion. This vehicle did not have the #'s matching motor/trans and was a perfect candidate for the conversion.

A LS6 motor was sourced from a Z06 Corvette, a 4L60E from a Camaro. The motor was completely disassembled to the bare block. Cylinders we deglazed, new rings, main bearings, rod bearings, cam bearings were installed. A modified oil pump, double roller timing set, single valve springs, MLS head gaskets, and head studs were also installed.

The goal was to make good power and have a smooth idle. So a custom camshaft was added that didn't stray too far from the factory LS6 specs, and the heads received a mild cleanup port and polish.

ZL1 exhaust manifolds were added for fitment, flow, and coated for looks. This all runs through true dual exhaust w/hpipe and flowmasters.

The interior was updated with digital gauges, rosewood steering wheel, tilt steering column, digital compass, outside air temp display, and cruise control.

The factory airconditioning was also modified to work with the transplant and is monitored by the LS computer.

This setup made 350whp/360wtq on a Mustang Dyno. That's roughly 435 horsepower at the flywheel. Enough power to easily run a 12 second 1/4 mile pass.

If a 1969 Camaro was reproduced today this is what most of us would hope for!
