DESCRIPTION
This sweet Chevy pickup was dropped off for a bare metal restoration. There was rust in the body that had to be taken care off, and a colour change was in order.

After the body panels came back from the media blaster, additional rust damaged was revealed. The tailgate was beyond economical repair. There isn't much OL' School Garage can't repair, but when a high quality painted finish is the goal, it is significantly cheaper to use new panels.

With the availability of reproduction body panels, the doors, guards and tray were sacked in favor of new pieces. New reproduction panels don't always have the best fitment and this was paramount for the customer. Roland painstaking ensured the fitment was that of a modern car.

To avoid making modifications after the respray, Roland and Trent took the time to mockup new timber floor tray floor and new panels and made sure everything fitted correctly and the holes for fasteners were in the right locations.

OL' School Garage rust repair guru found two major pieces of cancer in the corners of the cab where the tray meets the cab. Roland was able to use one reproduction section and fabrication the other for a factory look. He is a craftsman in the way he forms complex shapes for oneoff components.

The boys had worked on file finishing the cab and tray before it was put in primer. OL' School Garage estimated a week in blocking and sanding throughout. A House of Kolor pearl in orange was chosen and looks superb on the pickup and the chrome compliments the look.

For comfortable cruising, the interior had been treated to a completely new trim. Dynamat was used to keep the reduce road noise in the cabin. The painted orange dash features all new gauges and chrome bezels throughout.

Restoring a classic car is something that shouldn't be rushed (the pickup was with us for almost 12 months). So delivering a freshly restored classic to an expectant customer isn't something that happens every day and are just as exciting for OL' School Garage as they are for their customers.
